It was released on 16 September 2016. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the film a U/A certificate with 4 verbal cuts.
The film was a clear winner at the Indian box office, and received a very positive response from both the audience and critics. It has been considered as the most successful solo film for Amitabh Bachchan in recent times.
